Senior Quality Assurance Chemist I
DESCRIPTION
The Senior Quality Assurance Chemist I will serve as a key point of contact amongst Veridian Environmental, the client, and the analytical laboratories covering the following responsibilities:
* Participate in business development activities;
* Validate data using National Functional Guidelines, AFCEE, State and Local, and/or other environmental regulatory methodologies as required;
* Analyze and/or review GC, GC/MS and GC/ECD analytical techniques;
* Provide laboratory support as needed;
* Perform data management;
* Provide consulting services to clients with respect to environmental emergencies;
* Review permit requirements for applications and final permits;
* Audit procedures for liquid, solid and/or gas contamination sampling;
* Provide technical advice regarding hazardous waste disposal and treatment methods;
* Perform volatile and non-volatile organic analyses using GC, GC/MS and GC/ECD analytical techniques;
* Interaction with project managers, clients and owner/agents;
* Team with other project personnel as required in order to produce project deliverables in a timely manner;
* Supervise other technical staff.

SKILLS
* Experience with CERCLA, SARA, NPDES, RCRA and/or other environmental standards reporting, investigating and remediation is required;
* A working knowledge of the CAA, CWA, SDWA, RCRA, NPDES and/or other environmental regulatory acts;
* This position requires constant interaction with other project managers, clients and owner/agents;
* Prior experience with permitting, environmental remediation and management.
* Three (3) + years of analytical experience in an environmental testing laboratory or equivalent experience;
* Hands on experience in organic and/or inorganic analysis of water, wastewater, industrial waste, and air using EPA analytical procedures, such as GC, GC/MS, ICP, ICPIMS, IC, HPLC, and classic wet chemistry instrumentation;
* The ability to review and analyze GC, GC/MS and GC/ECD analytical techniques;
* Advanced knowledge of chromatography, spectroscopy, colorimetric, and gravimetric techniques;
* Advanced knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry;
* Prior EPA analytical experience for water, wastewater, hazardous waste & air;
* Functional knowledge of MS Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and e-mail systems;
* Must be highly personable, motivated and possess excellent communication skills;
* People management skills
DEGREE LEVEL ATTAINED
* BS degree in chemistry, toxicology or a related environmental field; * MS degree in a related environmental discipline preferred.
ACCREDITATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
* State of CA REA I or REA II certification; * OSHA forty hour HAZWHOPPER Training Certificate.
