Senior Quality Assurance Chemist II
DESCRIPTION
The Senior Quality Assurance Chemist II, will serve as a key point of contact between Veridian Environmental, the client, and the analytical laboratories covering the following responsibilities:
* Participate in business development activities;
* Perform data validation;
* Perform data management;
* Perform laboratory audits;
* Provide laboratory support and training;
* Analyze and/or review GC, GC/MS and GC/ECD analytical techniques;
* Validate data using National Functional Guidelines, AFCEE, State and Local , and/or other regulations;
* Respond to environmental emergencies;
* Review permit applications;
* Monitor liquid, solid and/or gas contamination sampling;
* Assess pollution potential;
* Provide technical advice regarding environmental sampling; analysis quality assurance project plans;
* Evaluate risk potential of wastes, considering their chemical constituents, acute and chronic toxicities, bio-accumulation potential, and remediation solutions;
* Perform analytical, quality control, and quality assurance methods development;
* Interaction with project managers, clients and owner/agents;
* Team with other project personnel as required in order to fulfill project deliverables in a timely manner;
* Supervise other technical staff.

SKILLS
* BA/BS degree in chemistry or a related field, MA/MS degree preferred;
* Experience with CERCLA, SPCC, SWPPP, EPCRA/SARA, MTCA, and RCRA reporting, investigating and remediation is required.
* This position requires constant interaction with other project managers, clients and owner/agents;
* Prior experience with permitting, environmental remediation and management.
* Five (5) years of analytical experience in an environmental testing laboratory or equivalent experience;
* Experience with GC, GC/MS and GC/ECD analytical techniques using EPA methodologies;
* Advanced knowledge of gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy techniques;
* Advanced knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry;
* Prior EPA analytical experience for water, wastewater, hazardous waste & air;
* OSHA forty hour HAZWHOPPER Training Certificate;
* State of CA REA I or REA II certification a plus;
* Functional knowledge of MS Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and Outlook;
* Applicants must be highly personable, motivated and possess excellent communication skills;
* People management skills.
DEGREE LEVEL ATTAINED
* BS degree in chemistry, toxicology or a related environmental field; ? MS degree in a related environmental discipline preferred.
ACCREDITATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
* State of CA REA I or REA II certification; * OSHA forty hour HAZWHOPPER Training Certificate.
